Resources
Listed below are research articles which can be valuable resources to understanding the important role of vision in comprehensive health care. In addition, the Healthy Eyes Healthy People (HEHP) initiative, which was created to support the Healthy People 2010 by translating the vision objectives into collaborative community action, has been successful in educating the public and providing services to the underserved in our country. Some of the programs listed and funded by HEHP are still in existence, while others have been discontinued. These programs can provide a learning tool for future health disparities projects for communities. Also note under “Healthy Vision 2010” information about eye health education and grant funding to improve the visual health of communities.
